Welcome to Li'l's Healing Room, where I offer mindfulness services designed to help with the improvement & maintenance of your overall wellbeing.
An ever increasing popular practice used within the NHS, Mind, Private sectors & many more, for the improvement & maintenance of our overall wellbeing. With Buddhist origins mindfulness has become a favoured technique here in the west. Humans have an innate ability to become aware of where we are & what we are doing. We can learn & practice how to become fully present & not overly overwhelmed & reactive to external circumstances around us.
Mindfulness helps us to put some space between ourselves, breaking down our conditional responses & enabling us to regulate our emotions. When we bring awareness to what we are directly experiencing via our senses or state of mind or via our thoughts & emotions we are being mindful. Research shows that when we regularly train our brains to be mindful we are re-modelling the structure of the brain.
Can Anybody Learn Mindfulness?
Like Meditation the answer to this question is also a resounding YES!
Although it may feel daunting to begin with mindfulness like meditation is the essence of who we are as human beings. Where meditation can be related to a training or discipline at certain times of the day, mindfulness is often associated to a diverse range of our daily activities which through learning & practice can be incorporated into our day when convenient to us.
Mindfulness coaching is a process of guiding you towards a state of mindfulness, which refers to the ability of being fully present and engaged in the moment, without judgment or distraction. It involves the teaching & relearning of how to calm and focus our minds, reduce stress, improve communication, and increasing our overall well-being. At its essence, mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment, non-judgmentally. It is the art of being intentionally aware of your environment, thoughts, emotions, and sensations as they arise, without getting caught up in them. In many ways, mindfulness is the opposite of multitasking, which divides our attention and makes it impossible for us to be fully present.
One of the key principles of mindfulness is self-awareness. I will support you to develop a deep understanding of your thoughts, emotions, & behaviours and to observe them with curiosity & kindness promoting a mindful outcome. This process will help you to become more conscious of your patterns of thinking and reacting, & to choose more adaptive ways of responding to different challenges. For example, instead of reacting impulsively to a stressful situation, a mindful person may pause, take a few deep breaths, create some space and consider alternative approaches.
However, cultivating mindfulness is not always easy. It requires learning, effort and discipline, particularly when our minds are racing or we feel stressed. But with practice, it can become a natural part of our lives. Mindfulness can also enhance our physical health too. Regular mindfulness practice has been linked to a decrease in blood pressure, reduced inflammation, improved sleep quality, improved immune function and even reduced symptoms of chronic pain.
Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help us lead more centred, fulfilling lives. It is a way to become more self-aware, to increase our emotional intelligence, & to reduce stress and anxiety. By taking the time to focus on the present moment, we can cultivate a sense of peace and purpose in our lives.
Mindfulness can decrease stress and anxiety levels. By focusing on the present moment and reducing wandering thoughts, mindfulness practices can help you to regulate your emotions & reduce feelings of overwhelm. This, in turn, can lead to a decrease in cortisol production, which is a hormone released during times of high stress affecting our cognitive functioning. Studies have found that mindfulness practices can increase grey matter in the brain, specifically in areas associated with memory, learning and emotion regulation. This makes mindfulness a potentially powerful tool in preventing or managing neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, which are associated with grey matter loss.
A mindfulness practice can help in building resilience. Resilience offers you the ability to bounce back from setbacks and to cope with adversity in a healthy manner. When you are mindful you are more equipped to withstand stress & negative emotions because you have cultivated a state of inner calm and stability.
Mindfulness also has the potential to benefit relationships. By improving self-awareness and emotional regulation, you can communicate more effectively and build deeper connections with others. Mindful listening, empathy, and non-judgmental acceptance are essential skills for building healthy relationships. By learning new and practical tools and strategies for improving communication, resolving conflicts, and building trust.
Overall, a mindfulness practice is a powerful tool for personal growth & development. It offers a way to cultivate inner peace, build resilience, and improve relationships. The benefits of mindfulness are numerous and significant. By practicing mindfulness, you can increase self-awareness, improve mental and physical health, increase focus & productivity, improve relationships, & ultimately improve your overall well-being.
